As the campaigns for the Soroti City East by-election commence, the NRM Flagbearer, Hon Herbert Edmund Ariko has expressed optimism that despite the limited timeframe given to conduct the campaigns, his team was ready to deliver a landslide victory for the people of Soroti.
"We are a mass party, and I am confident that we are well prepared for this election, despite the short time frame in which we must hold it and successfully conclude it," Hon Ariko said while addressing the media this evening in Soroti City.
Ariko disclosed that his team was to employ a comprehensive campaign strategy that will not only target people in their communities but also target people in larger meetings and rallies.
"We have had to use robust teams and provide a very comprehensive campaign program. We believe that by structuring our campaign in this manner, we should be able to reach everyone in their immediate vicinity in this limited time and space," Ariko explained.
He called for calm and peace during the campaigns adding that, the NRM cannot resort to violence since it commands the biggest number of members.
“We believe we have the capacity to win by a landslide. When you panic, that's when you go violent. The numbers we had on nominations spoke for themselves. There was no doubt about the enthusiasm.” He explained.
According to the Independent Electoral Commission program, the candidates will commence their campaigns starting tomorrow Wednesday 21st July 2022, with the polling date slated for the 28th of July, 2022.
