The NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has challenged party cadres to spearhead efforts in household economic empowerment and responsible financial management, alongside their political mobilisation duties.

‎He made the call yesterday while speaking at the passing out of over 800 coordinators of the 'Museveni ku Ntikko' cadre group at Green Kard Gardens in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District.

‎"As NRM cadres, we should learn strong personal financial discipline. You need to start challenging your expenditures." Todwong said as he urged the group to learn to save.

‎He said that by promoting financial discipline among the masses, cadres can effectively contribute to the NRM's broader development agenda and ensure that political support translates into tangible improvements in people's lives.

‎"As we support NRM and President Museveni, we also need to educate you to live a good life at home," he stated, emphasising that the party's vision extends to the well-being of its members and the citizenry.

‎He also reiterated the party's expectation of genuine volunteerism, warning against any groups driven by financial gain. Todwong revealed he has actively counselled them against monetising their support.

‎"And I've written and warned them not even to collect money from their members," he disclosed. "If someone comes voluntarily, let it be voluntarily, not on money."

‎He further cautioned that the NRM would not hesitate to disassociate from groups that deviate from this principle, citing past experiences. "Because we have closed in the past very many voluntary groups because of money. And we have warned them not to use money," Todwong stated unequivocally.
