Sseninde rallies Kayunga to vote for NRM’s Muwonge for LC5 seat

Tuesday 30th November 2021

The NRM director for mobilization and cadre development Hon Rosemary Sseninde has said the byelection is a great opportunity for the people of Kayunga to correct the mistake they had earlier made and vote for the party’s LC5 flagbearer Andrew Muwonge.

Speaking after Muwonge’s nomination, Sseninde said the byelection is an opportunity for the people of Kayunga to vote for a person who will help extend services to them.

“We thank God for this day and I want to ask the people of Kayunga to appreciate that NRM is the party in power for the next five years. This is an opportunity for the people to vote for a person who hails from the government in power to ensure they get the services they need to be extended to them,” Sseninde said.

“The people of Kayunga have all reasons to vote for a person from the party in power.  This is a fresh beginning with fresh blood and the best person is Andrew Muwonge. He is a youth like many of you here.”

Hon Sseninde said there has been tremendous development in Kayunga, courtesy of the NRM government but said more will come if the people vote for the ruling party candidate in the forthcoming LC5 byelection.

She however urged all candidates and their supporters to carry out peaceful campaigns.

The NRM flag bearer for Kayunga LC5 byelection, Andrew Muwonge applauded the party national chairman, President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM secretariat for ensuring unity of all members in Uganda, a factor he said will greatly contribute to his win.

“For the first time, NRM in Kayunga is united. I had never seen this. I thank the NRM secretariat and the party chairperson, President Yoweri Museveni for this. This is the opportunity that the people of Kayunga have been yearning for to get a leader who knows their problems,” Muwonge said.

Muwonge said Kayunga has been lacking a leader who had no inclination to any groups or cliques.

“I call upon all people even those in opposition to come and support me because I have been a youth leader for over 10 years and I am in a position to know all problems affecting the people of Kayunga. I am the right person to lead the district,” he said.

The party director for communication and public relations, Emmanuel Dombo urged members of the public to observe standard operating procedures to avoid the spread of Covid during campaigns.

“Wear your masks wherever you go. Wash hands and also practice social distancing.  Above all, let us remain peaceful during campaigns,” Dombo said.

Kayunga district is made up of  Bbaale, Ntenjeru North and Ntenjeru South Constituencies,  13 Sub counties and a total number of 190,977 registered voters
