SG Todwong welcomes Lango leaders to NRM

Wednesday 30th November 2022

The Secretary-General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has today received converts from the Lango sub-region led by Mr. Geoffrey Etwop at the party head offices in Nakasero, Kampala.

Rt. Hon. Todwong thanked them for joining NRM, which he said speaks about unity with diversity and unity to serve the population; that's why the cabinet includes leaders from other political parties.

"I welcome you in two capacities as the Secretary-General and the Chairperson of IPOD, which comprises four political parties with an aspiration to serve the people of Uganda," Rt. Hon. Todwong said.

He added that it is important for all parties to unite so they can serve their people better than they would be able to on their own.

Todwong also spoke about how important it was for leaders to not only understand their roles but also how best they can serve their people—especially in fighting poverty right from the household level.

Hon. James Olobo Obai thanked Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong for welcoming them into the ruling party and expressing the belief that it will add strength to their region.

He went on to say that the NRM government is committed to developing the Lango sub-region, and he thanked the converts for their support in redeveloping the party by enticing other opposition members to join the NRM.

The event was attended by the party's Director for the Diaspora, Maj (Rtd) Awich Pollar, Hon. James Olobo Obai, Chairperson of NRM in Amolator district, and other party leaders from Lango sub-region.
