The Party Secretary General, Rt Hon Richard Todwong, has today held a consultative meeting with members of the Women's Council Executive and Women's District leaders at party headquarters in Kampala.
Rt Hon Todwong said that the party has always prioritised women and the girlchild. He pledged that the party will work closely with them since they are its representatives at the grassroots.
"Unity is key for every election, so work hard as a team to ensure that you retain your positions; you have made your positions attractive to others who will come to compete for the same positions and I know people appreciate your roles as women leaders." Todwong said.
He urged them to get fully involved in the Parish Development Model because everything starts from the household level and this is where government has keenly focused.
"You are our pillars as women at the grassroots therefore take charge of these government programs in your respective districts." He added.
The Women league Chairperson Hajjat Faridah Kiboowa thanked the Secretary General for his commitment and guidance during this elective season of women leaders.
She urged the women leaders to remain focused and committed to the party and encouraged them to work very hard to become the NRM flag bearers.
