Reconcile with one another to ensure unity within the party – Namayanja to Entebbe Municipality leaders

Thursday 17th February 2022

“Once we are united and determined to move, we can overcome any obstacles as NRM members,”

The NRM party Deputy Secretary-General Hon. Rose Namayanja said yesterday while officiating at a one day retreat for NRM leaders from Entebbe Municipality Organized by the area NRM party Executive Committee at Botanical Gardens in Entebbe Municipality.

Speaking to the gathering, Namayanja urged leaders at all levels to avoid bickering and ensure party cohesion as a way of enabling service delivery to the people who massively voted NRM and President Museveni into power for a 6th term.

“Bickering among party members is the main problem in NRM. We know some things have gone wrong but it is our mandate as a family to put our house in order. We know elections are about tearing each other apart especially from primaries, but after that, we need to get together,” she said, adding, “As party leaders, we are implementing the same manifesto, whether the opposition, NRM is the party in government that controls resources”.

Namayanaja told party leaders to avoid silence when they see something going wrong and advised them to always seek redress from the party top leadership at the secretariat. She asked leaders to articulate government achievements and programmes to the people to guard them against opposition propaganda.

“NRM is a people-centred party, if we articulate our ideology well and they get to know what we stand for they will be part of us. We have a track record of success, so let us build on that. It is our mandate to keep the party in power forever, just like Chama Cha Mapinduzi in Tanzania which has run the country for 60 years,” she added.

The State Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan areas, Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye expressed gratitude to the leaders of Entebbe municipality for their efforts towards resolving their differences. “Unity enabled our grandfathers to win many battles, we can not achieve much if we are not united,” Kabuye said.

The minister emphasized the government flagship programme of the Parish Development Model, asking leaders to embrace it in order to deliver people from poverty.

“This term is for wealth creation, he said, “People have been annoyed because service delivery has not been received. The Parish Development Model is here to deliver everyone from poverty, leaders must embrace it with both hands,” he said.

The party director for mobilization, recruitment and cadre development, Hon. Rosemary Seninde challenged the party leaders of Entebbe municipality for not understanding what NRM stands for given that many goods programmes the government has extended to them have gone unappreciated, the reason many party candidates were voted out.

She asked the party leaders of Entebbe municipality to spearhead unity as the first message to Ugandans saying, “If we are to go forward, we need to get organized and avoid internal wrangles that cripple party activities at the expense of voters. These differences have deepened the opposition in the area. Bickering is inevitable but we need some reservations. We need to reconcile with one another if we are to have progress. Let us have changed mindset,” she emphasized.

The Parish Development Model

The Deputy Secretary-General, Hon. Rose Namayanja reiterated the minister Kabuye’s call to the leaders of embracing the PDM, a flagship programme meant to create household wealth among Ugandans.

“The Parish Development Model is our flagship programme in this term of leadership. If we win it, we shall have won 2026. If we fail then we have nothing to tell people.

The PDM will be launched on the 26th February 2022 in the Eastern District of Kibuku, Bukedi sub-region. Designed on seven pillars, PDM will operate on the parish level to enhance wealth creation among Ugandans.

Namayanja thanked Entebbe municipality leaders for organizing a reconciliation meeting. She said that this will foster unity that will see the opposition wiped out in the area.
