NRM Secretariat officials meet mobilization groups ahead of President Museveni’s nomination rally at Kololo

Thursday 11th September 2025

The NRM Secretariat officials, led by the National Treasurer, Amb. Barbara Nekesa today hosted a section of party mobilization pressure groups from across the country to deliberate on possible strategies ahead of the start of the presidential campaigns in October.

In a meeting organized by the Department of Mobilization at the NRM Secretariat headquarters, Amb. Nekesa said the meeting was called to harmonize all groups campaigning for the reelection of President Yoweri Museveni in 2026.

“We invited you here to discuss how we can cooperate to forge a joint campaign task force team that will traverse the country seeking support for President Museveni,” Nekesa said.

She urged the groups to mobilize party members and the general public to turn out in huge numbers at Kololo ceremonial grounds on September 23rd for the nomination rally of President Museveni.

“I want us to mobilise Ugandans who will fill Kololo Grounds to capacity after the nomination of our great icon by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The city must be painted all yellow because NRM is big,” She said.

Nekesa also revealed that the secretariat will tomorrow, Friday, be proceeding to the Independent National Electoral Commission to deliver the 2.2Million signatures that second the nomination of President Museveni.

"The EC regulations require only 100 signatures from each district, but for us, we obtained thousands, which shows that the NRM is way bigger than any other political group," Nekesa boasted.

On social economic transformation, Nekesa told mobilisers that the NRM party has made great strides, "a reason why we still need President Museveni in the next term to protect the gains."

To Ugandans who haven't yet joined the money economy, Nekesa asked the mobilisers to urge them to embrace social economic empowerment programs like the Parish Development Model and emyooga for Uganda to move forward.

The NRM Director of Mobilization, Dr. Seninde Rosemary Nansubuga, commended the pressure groups for voluntarily supporting President Museveni.

“You are good cadres because you have committed to campaign for the interests of President Museveni without expectations,” Hon.Seninde said, pledging the party’s commitment to deliver the president’s victory.

“As a party, we wish to thank you for the brick you have added to the NRM party. Thank you for what you are doing and continue to do so as we collaborate to strengthen the partnership,” she added.

Hajjat Medina Naham, the Director of Finance and Administration, promised to urge the groups towards social and economic transformation.

“Our ordinary people should be given a clear message to fight against household poverty through embracing government programs like the parish development model, Emyooga, among others,” Medina said.

“She thanked Director Seninde for acknowledging the group’s inputs. For the many years I have spent here, I can say this is a very good initiative that has brought the entire country together. So I am very excited when I hear there are people from Kazo, Mbarara, Karamoja, Arua, and Iganga, among other areas. It makes me happy that we are on the right track,” She said.

The Director of External Affairs, Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, asked the mobilisers to remain firm, steady, fast, and do research and always talk about the NRM achievements wherever they go to promote NRM and President Museveni.

“Be a great ambassador of the party by maintaining discipline during mobilization activities,” Awich said.
