Delegates have gathered this morning at State House, Entebbe, for the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), chaired by the party’s National Chairman, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The NEC meeting is the second in a series of high-level engagements called by the National Chairman in preparation for the NRM National Delegates’ Conference, scheduled for Kololo. Earlier this week, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) sat for two days, and today’s meeting will review and adopt its report and resolutions.
President Museveni is expected to set the tone for the party’s roadmap ahead of the Delegates’ Conference. The Secretary General, Rt Hon. Richard Todwong, will later present his report detailing the outcomes of the CEC deliberations.
According to the Deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja-Nsereko, NEC brings together leaders from across the NRM structure, including Members of Parliament, district chairpersons, and other senior cadres.
“The CEC resolutions will be tabled here for adoption by NEC leaders from all levels, and from this process, names of candidates for the Central Executive Committee will be forwarded to the National Conference at Kololo,” she explained.
Key agenda items include President Yoweri Museveni's address, presentation of the Secretary General's report, presentation of recommended persons standing for CEC positions, and campaigns by the contestants.
