The ICT Minister and NRM vice chairman for Western Region, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, has said the Kisoboka agriculture expo is a useful platform for companies to sell genuine farm products at discounted prices.
“I am happy that companies and factories dealing in agriculture products left offices in Kampala and camped here, where they have ably sold farm inputs at fair rates and also offered technical advice to our locals,” Baryomunsi said.
Baryomunsi said yesterday as he addressed farmers from greater Mubende districts who were attending the 2nd annual Kisoboka expo at Mutetema, Kalangalo Sub County in Mityana district.
The event, which attracted thousands of exhibitors dealing in fertilisers, seeds, and water pumps, among other inputs, was organised by the NRM Vice Chairman for the Central Region, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi.
“The expo is in line with the NRM manifesto, national development plan III, and aspirations of President Museveni, who has always preached the gospel of socioeconomic transpiration of citizens through commercial agriculture,” Dr. Baryomunsi said, adding, “I am hopeful that farmers will implement the knowledge and guidance received.”
He urged locals to also undertake the Parish Development Model and Emyooga government empowerment programmes.
The event's organiser, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda, challenged leaders at all levels to empower their people through various projects for income generation instead of lamentations against the government.
“My vision is to increase the productivity of farm outputs for better profitability,” he said.
Kiwanda also said the exhibitions will be taken to other parts of the central region to bring agriculture services closer to the people.
