Get out of the comfort zone- Namayanja tells youth

Saturday 25th March 2023

The NRM deputy Secretary-General, Rt. Hon.Namayanja Rose Nsereko has advised young people to get out of the comfort zone if they are to attain bigger goals in society.

Deputy SG Namayanja said youth have all the time they need to try out on anything new until they succeed and so should not restrain themselves due to fear of failing.

“Please avoid laziness. No success is attained on silver platter. Even if you start and fail, success begins with failing in some cases. So learn to accept failures and challenges until you perfect,” Hon. Namayanja told youth and students yesterday who were gathered at Muteesa 1 Royal University in Masaka City.

Like the previous generation of President Yoweri Museveni and his colleagues who liberated the country from misrule, Namayanja told youth to identify their clear mission of contributing to the country’s social economic transformation and strive to fulfill it.

To attain this mission, Namayanja emphasized that youth should embrace mindset orientations and training to align with current challenges.

“Mindset change will help you to live responsibly and work towards the economic and social wellbeing of the communities,” Namayanja said.

Due to the limited job opportunities, Namayanja challenged young people from Universities to focus on creation of their own jobs instead of chasing the existing few ones on the market.

“Embrace science and innovation to create jobs because employment opportunities are limited. Interrogate government policies which are sets up for the economic empowerment of young people to ensure that you benefit,” NRM ideologue advised.

She also condemned misuse of public funds which are meant to develop communities. “I call upon you to spear head the fight against shoddy works and corruption tendencies of some government officers. Boldly come out and speak or report to authorities to save public funds,” she said, adding, “If we all keep quiet, we shall be facilitating the growth of impunity and lack of responsibility in society.”

Muteesa 1 Royal University, Vice Chancellor, Prof.Vincent Kakembo, assured the Chief Guest of the University’s commitment towards government call of prioritizing science courses.

“We decided to begin with emphasis on engineering as a response to the government policy of focusing more on science courses. We seek to train youths around this region on job creation and agricultural mechanization,” Prof. Kakembo said.
