Stay focused to achieve your life desired goals- Namayanja tells youth leaders

Friday 3rd March 2023

The Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement party, Rt Hon. Rose Namayanja Nsereko, has urged the youth to remain focused on achieving their life goals to succeed. Namayanja stated that many youths are misguided, thus losing track of their desired objectives.

Namayanja advised the youth, saying, "You can be anything you wish to be in life. You need to be relevant in your areas and for those in school, focus on your education." She added, "Let no one misguide you in your aspirations."

She made the remarks while officiating the Pre-Women's Day youth community celebrations held at  Mukono district headquarters.

The event brought together young women leaders, youth leaders, and students from Mukono district, and ran under the theme, "Leveraging our reach to improve access and opportunities for young women in economic empowerment and SRHR needs."

The conference aimed to provide the youth with information and knowledge on sexual reproductive health and rights, as well as economic empowerment.

Namayanja called on youth leaders to use their positions as a stepping stone to kickstart their careers, stating that youth leadership offers a strong platform.

"I urge youth leaders here to use their leadership positions properly because that is a very strong platform." "You can be whatever you want if you believe in yourself and are focused on what you aim to achieve. Set your goals and have a vision." Namayanja added.

The NRM stalwart also emphasized the importance of education for girls, stating that it is the ultimate empowerment tool to propel them to success.

"Educating and training a girl prepares her for formal employment and earnings," she emphasized.

However, she also condemned the growing challenges faced by girls both in schools and at home, including the prevalence of sex for marks and sex for jobs.

"These issues should be condemned by both the government and the public, and a lasting solution should be found to create a better environment for young girls and adolescents," Namayanja said.

The celebrations were attended by the National Youth Member of Parliament, Hon Phiona Nyamutoro, and other youth leaders. Uganda will join the rest of the world on Wednesday the 8th of March, 2023 to celebrate Women's Day.
