The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Director for Mobilisation, Hon Rosemary Seninde, has emphasized the need for mindset change as a pre-requisite for poverty eradication in the country.

Hon. Seninde remarked yesterday while on a familiarization tour of the National Farmers’ Leadership Centre, where she had led a team from the NRM secretariat.

"I would like to appreciate the fountain of honor for establishing this facility that is helping our people to learn and appreciate that socio-economic development starts with a mindset change," Hon. Seninde said.

The National Farmers’ Leadership Centre is a government training facility mandated to overcome poverty through the mindset transformation of farmer leaders, civic and political leaders, and other categories of leaders, through mindset change and advanced agricultural technology transfer.

According to Hon Seninde, the NRM secretariat visit to the facility was to learn and appreciate the role of mindset change towards the socio-economic empowerment of the masses.

"As leaders and members of the secretariat, we thought it wise to come and appreciate the issues of mindset change and also find out what can be done for the masses to go into social-economic development," she explained.

She added that it was necessary for the secretariat team to first understand and appreciate the issues at hand and equip themselves with the knowledge to better explain them to their communities.

"We want to be exemplary leaders and for that matter, we are going to work with the agriculture ministry to ensure that our people also get to appreciate the programs and be able to speak for them in their communities," Seninde added.

On his part, the facility principal, Mr. Odauk Paul, commended the secretariat leadership for taking an interest in the issues affecting the country. He pledged to work together with the secretariat to offer lasting solutions to poverty eradication.
