The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko has urged Busoga leaders to focus on solving the challenges facing ordinary people within the sub-region.

While speaking during a mobilization meeting organized by the NRM Secretariat at Mum Resort Hotel in Iganga on Tuesday, Namayanja emphasized that leadership involves addressing the needs of the people, despite its difficulties.

“The people want to be given hope, and they want to see that the party and government find solutions to their problems. We are committed to ensuring that NRM regains its strong support in Busoga by addressing the people's needs.” Namayanja said.

She reiterated the party's commitment to regaining its strong support in Busoga by solving the community's problems and preparing for the 2026 elections.

Hon. Nansubuga Rosemary Seninde, the Director of Mobilization and Cadre Development, noted that the party’s mobilisation research in the regions of Busoga and Buganda revealed the need to listen directly to the people's concerns. She added that addressing issues in fishing and sugarcane growing was a top priority.

"As a secretariat, we realised that it was important for us to come back to the people and be able to interact with them to find solutions to their problems," Seninde said.

Legislators like Hon. Bagiire Aggrey Henry and Hon. Taaka Agnes praised the NRM Secretariat for organizing the meeting. They called for continued engagement, particularly in sectors like education, where parents are being asked for money despite the universal education program.

Responding to some of the concerns raised, Namayanja assured the leaders that their concerns would be forwarded to relevant ministries and government agencies. She announced plans to hold more forums to gather community insights and follow up on the issues raised.

The party leaders will tomorrow engage with sugarcane growers in Jinja and the fishing community in the Mayuge district.

The Busoga meeting attracted over 200 leaders including, Members of parliament, local government leaders, Resident district commissioners, party structural leaders and stakeholders from the fishing and sugarcane growing communities.

Other key NRM officials, including Hon. Alisemera Babiiha (NRM EC Commissioner), Counsel Enoch Barata (Director of Legal Affairs) and Mr Rogers Mulindwa (Senior Manager for Communications) attended the meeting.
