Luwero Muslim Leadership pay courtesy visit to NRM Party Headquarters

The newly elected Muslim leaders in Luwero District led by Sheikh Ramadhan Mulindwa have today Wednesday  afternoon paid a courtesy visit to the NRM Party Headquarters in Kampala.

They met Dr. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi the Central Executive Committee (CEC) member and NRM Vice Chairperson in charge of Buganda Region. Dr. Kiwanda, congratulated his guests upon going through the elections peacefully and pledged to work with them closely. He commended them for their loyalty towards NRM and President Yoweri Museveni in particular whom he said had throughout his leadership maintained the freedom of worship among Ugandans.

He urged them to remain supportive to NRM whose visionary top leader has embraced the East African integration to better Ugandans. "Right now the maize prices among farmers has shot up to UGX 1400 per Kilogram and the market is dominated by Kenyans, Tanzanians, South Sudanese, Rwandese and Congolese", Kiwanda said.

"We are a land locked but a land-linked country and  we should all take an advantage as farmers to improve our farm productions for this available market", he added.

Kiwanda pledged to organise a meeting with the Moslem leaders later  to forge a way forward on how to improve  household incomes. He stressed the need to improve the productivity sighting maize growing which if well maintained, an acre can yield 3.1 tonnes. 

Met Al-Haj Kigongo
The delegation which also had Haj Nasur Gadafi, a Central Executive Committee (CEC) and Chairperson of the National Youth League earlier visited the NRM first National Vice Chairperson Al-Haj Moses Kigongo and discussed several issues related to the development of the Muslim communities in Luwero. Gadaffi was thankful to Kiwanda for sparing time to meet the Luwero Moslem leaders. Gadaffi is currently the NRM Parliamentary Flag bearer for Katitamu North Constituency.

President Museveni expected
In his address, Sheikh Ramadhan Mulindwa said the new district leadership will officially assume office on March 18 and H.E President Yoweri Museveni is expected to preside over the function at the district  Muslim headquarters at Kasana.

High powered delegation
The delegation also had the Moslem District Chairperson and former MP for Bamunanika County Hon Ali Ndaula, former Luwero District Inspector of Schools Haj Outhman Kamoga and Rtd Maj Abubaker Kalume who contested for Member of Parliament in Katikamu South Constituency among others. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ndaula said the Muslim communities in Luwero have 156 acres of  land in total that need to be developed and called for government intervention.
