As the voting day for Kisoro woman MP in next week’s by-election draws closer, the NRM camp is excited by the arrival of the party Vice Chairman for the Western region and ICT minister, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi to whip supporters to vote for Rose Kabagyeni.
While addressing chanting voters in Bukimbiri county areas today, Dr Baryomunsi said their interests and desires from the government shall only be achieved by electing the NRM flag bearer.
“Kabagyeni is a well-known and experienced leader in government who has so many resourceful contacts. If elected, your issues shall be solved unlike the other people in the race,” Baryomunsi said, adding, “She is part of the NRM family, and her voice when budgeting in parliament will easily be heard and considered.”
From today, “I will join fellow NRM foot soldiers for the rest of the campaign days to tell people about Kabagyeni, a reliable and hard-working leader for the people of Kisoro,” he said.
The Vice Chairman urged the voters not to be misled to back non-NRM people because they have no good agenda. “You shouldn’t shy away from voting for NRM, a party you have loved and supported for many years,” he said.
Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, the NRM Deputy National Treasurer, stressed that NRM has only one candidate in the race, who is Rose Kabagyeni. “Any other person purporting to be NRM is an imposter who shouldn’t even waste your time.”
She condemned some people who are advancing the politics of religion other than that of ideas and asked them to stop it because it divides the people.
“We are not looking for a church bishop, a nun or reverend. We are in this exercise to vote for a Member of Parliament to represent everyone in the August house. “Please vote for peace, not division,” Kyatuhaire cautioned leaders and some clergy who are advancing the religious narrative.
Rose Kabagyeni said she will sit in the NRM parliamentary caucus where development decisions are discussed. “My opponents are non-caucus members who cannot even access President Museveni,” she said.
On Thursday, I urge you to walk to the polling station and tick the bus. “Vote for the bus to bring roads and other developmental projects in Kisoro district.”
