Burundi’s ruling CNDD-FDD party leaders visit NRM, pay tribute to speaker Oulanyah

The Deputy Secretary-General of the ruling CNDD- FDD party in neighbouring Burundi, the Rt Hon Joseph Ntakirutimana has today Tuesday afternoon, paid a courtesy call at the National Resistance Movement party (NRM) headquarters, where he paid tribute to the fallen Speaker and NRM party Vice-chairperson for Northern Uganda, the Rt Hon Jacob L'Okori Oulanyah. 

Accompanied by Burundi’s ambassador to Uganda, Her Excellency Epiphanie Kabushemeye Ntamwana, the Rt Hon Ntakirutimana together with a delegation of party officials held a meeting with NRM Secretary-General, the Rt Hon Richard Todwong and deputy national treasurer, Hon Jackeline Kyatuhaire. 

After the closed-door meeting, the Rt Hon Todwong told journalists that both sides had deliberated on several issues that are of great concern on how to sustain historical ties and shared strategies on how both ruling parties and their governments can work in the interest of their citizens.  

The head of the delegation signed the condolence book to pay respects to the late Speaker Oulanyah.

The delegation which jetted into the country this morning through Entebbe airport and was welcomed by NRM's director for diaspora affairs, (Rtd) Maj. Awich Pola is expected to attend the national prayers in honour of the late speaker at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds tomorrow.

The Burundian delegation was on the second visit to the ruling party headquarters today after the Cuban ambassador, H.E Tania Perez Xiques’ visited earlier this morning. She also paid tribute to the former Speaker.
