The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat top officials have concluded a four-day retreat aimed at building cohesion in order to formulate the party's new political direction for the next five years and beyond.
Chaired by the Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Todwong Richard, at Kigambira Safari Lodge, Lake Mburo National Park, in Kiruhura District, the senior officials discussed possible ways to enhance mobilisation efforts through cadre identification and recruitment to keep the party strong and vibrant.
Under the theme "strengthening the NRM revolutionary methods of work; building a cohesive, disciplined, accountable, and high-performing party secretariat for the 2026-2031 Visalia and beyond," the principals used the retreat to review the party's excellent performance in the concluded general elections and also formulate a comprehensive plan to steer the vision and mission of the ruling party forward.
They also discussed areas where the party could make possible reforms given the current dynamics with in the regional and international geopolitics to attract all generations.
They resolved, among other things, to reinforce their commitment to support other government branches to deliver on the NRM manifesto and better service delivery.
Earlier in the day, the officials engaged in in-depth sessions on service delivery, monitoring and evaluation, international relations, etiquette, communication, and media relations.
Among the facilitators were Dr. Kenneth Alfred Kiiza and Prof. Gerald Karyeija Kagambirwe, both from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI).
While closing the retreat, Todwong called for more cohesion and teamwork among the principals to ensure smooth party operations.
"I am very happy for the discussions and conversations we shared in the retreat and hope for more meetings going forward," Todwong said.
