The NRM Deputy Secretary General Rt.Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko has urged ugandans to massively engage in upcoming women council and Local council I elections saying village leadership plays a critical role in the wealth creation among houselholds to propel the country's social economic transformation.
Namayanja said today in a press conference held at Brovad Hotel in Masaka city.
"I urge the people of greater Masaka to take the local council elections very seriously by turning up in huge numbers to choose village leaders on the NRM ticket that will ensure access to information about government programs like the Parish Development Mode (PDM), Emyooga among others," Namayanja said.
Deputy Secretary said voting for the NRM flagbearers is the right choice to do because they are willing to work well with the government to ensure effective service delivery unlike the opposition leaders whose principal agenda is to frustrate the NRM government and its flagship programs.
"Voting for NRM ticket holders will enhance the fight against corruption and misuse of public resources to ensure proper accountability and amplify President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's message of "Kisanja no more sleep" Namayanja emphasized.
Call for Unity and Calm
Namayanja has urged the NRM members to remain united behind the party candidate and not be swayed away by excited opposition elements that have nothing or little to offer in the fight against household poverty and village harmony.
The population was also asked to remain calm and peaciful because village harmony is everyones common goal as she reiterated the call to show up for NRM Barazas on Wednesday 22nd, Voting for Women councils on Thursday 23rd and LC I elections on 28th July, 2026.
According to the NRM leadership in Masaka city, the party already has 30 NRM flagbearers for LC I chairperson unopposed after closure of nominations.
The NRM will also hold meetings in all subcounties across the country to strategies for village barazas and mobilisation for party flagbearers.
