ARUA CITY: The NRM regional entry meeting in the West Nile sub-region attracted a massive turnout as the Director of Finance, Hajjati Medina Naham, joined by fellow senior leaders engaged party leaders on preparations for the forthcoming Women Council and Local Council I (LC I) elections. Other senior officials who addressed the meeting held at Eripak Resort Beach included Hon. Jachan Omach (Deputy EC Chairperson and Driwaru Zaituni (NRM EC Commissioner)
Hajati Medina commended the NRM leadership in West Nile for the overwhelming support they mobilised for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the party during the recently concluded general elections. She applauded the region for its commitment to the party and urged leaders to maintain the momentum as preparations for the grassroots elections gather pace.
Hon. Omach called on party leaders to sustain the same spirit of unity and mobilisation that delivered victory in the general elections, saying it should now be directed towards ensuring decisive victories in the LC I polls. He emphasised that LC I leaders form the bedrock of the NRM's grassroots structures, noting that strong village leadership is essential for the continued growth, stability and effectiveness of the party.
Hon Zaituni challenged party leaders to remain honest, work closely with the people, and avoid internal divisions, particularly the practice of sponsoring independent candidates against official NRM flag bearers.
She stressed that unity, discipline and loyalty to party decisions are critical to protecting the NRM's gains and strengthening its grassroots support across the West Nile sub-region.
