The NRM Electoral Commission has declared Ann Ruyondo Lumumba as a party flagbearer for chairperson of the National Women's Council.
Ruyondo emerged winner with 109 votes against incumbent Farida Kibowa who polled 25 votes.
In other positions, Hon.Agnes Kirabo won the position of the Vice Chairperson with 81 votes after defeating Janipher Kengaju Akiiki and Sheebah Nagudi Muloni with 32 and 03 votes respectively. Hope Nakunda and Among Shakila Mwenyi were elected as flag bearers for Secretary for Finance and secretary for publicity respectively.
The Commission's Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi who presided over the electoral exercise praised the voters for maintaining discipline throughtout the exercise.
"I am happy that we have at last chosen leaders of your choice who will represent the NRM in the Friday national elections," Dr Tanga remarked.
"The NRM party will with its full force back our ticket holders at the national level to ensure we defeat the opposition candidates and the independents," Tanga added.
The Chairperson Women's league, Hon.Adrine Kobusigye congraculated the newly elected team for winning the mandate of the women leaders of NRM and pledged to support them.
"I hope everyone is satisfied with the process and therefore nobody will come out to contest as independent or even sponsor one. Let us remain united and mobilise to pulloff the final win on Friday. It will be ashame for someone who went through all this process to via for independents," Kobusigye said.
