The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has today opened an expression of interest process for aspirants contesting for the position of the Chairperson of the National Women's Council and other positions ahead of the upcoming NRM primaries.
The announcement was made by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, during a press briefing held as the party began issuing nomination forms for the national-level Women’s Council Committee elections.
The expression of interest exercise opens today, September 1, and will close tomorrow, September 2, at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Odoi underscored that the process is entirely free of charge, and no aspirant is required to make any payment to collect or submit the expression of interest forms.
Four national-level positions are open for election: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Publicity Secretary, and Secretary for Finance. The position of secretary is not elective at the national level.
Nominations are set to take place tomorrow, September 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the NRM Electoral Commission Headquarters before holding campaigns from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Voting will take place at 2 pm in the same venue by lining-up.
The Electoral Commission team overseeing the process includes Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, Vice Chairperson Hon. Fred Jacan Omach, and Commissioners Hon. James Tweheyo, Hon. Jane Alisemera, Hon. Juliana Modesta Auma, Hon. Zaituni Dwaru, and Counsel Enock Barata.
With the expression of interest window closing at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, eligible NRM aspirants are encouraged to collect and submit their forms within the stipulated timeframe and to take part in the nomination, campaign, and polling activities at the NRM Electoral Commission Headquarters in Kampala.
