Todwong meets Makerere-NRM chapter leadership

Thursday 30th March 2023

A section of students under the Makerere University-NRM chapter today paid a courtesy call to the NRM Secretary-General, Rt.Hon. Richard Todwong at party head offices plot10, along Kyadondo road, in Nakasero.

During their conversation with the SG, students sought his guidance as a former students’ leader at the same institution on how well they can serve their fellow students and improve their University.

Robert Ankunda, the NRM Chapter Chairman said their engagement with Rt. Hon. Todwong was resourceful and inspirational to them as young people who desire to take-up leadership positions in the country.

In his address to the students, Rt.Hon. Todwong cautioned them against unpopular and barbaric behaviors of hate and isolations.

“Avoid segregation and hate of your fellow students on the account of tribe, religion, gender or even political affiliation. We all have one country and we must guard it well and responsibly,” Todwong said in his message to the young NRM leaders.

Mr. Todwong added, “The country is keenly looking up to you as sons and daughters of the revolution and so, you must be ready and prepared to take over leadership from the old guards.”

The Director of Youth and Institution at NRM Secretariat, Rtd. Maj. Okwir Rabwoni challenged the chapter leadership to ensure that they leave behind a positive legacy in the Association itself and the University at large.

“Consider enriching yourselves with leadership knowledge and later forge ways on how it can be descended to the people you lead through study groups, and debates,”  Rabwoni said.
