Campaigns for the Kikuube district by-election that began on May 28th have closed today, Tuesday, ahead of voting day on Thursday, June 18th, 2026.
The NRM ground team led by Director of Mobilisation, Dr Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, was today joined by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, made a final plea to voters in favour of the ruling party flagbearer, Paddy Kisembo.
Prime Minister Nabbanja and team traversed Kabwoya and Kiziranfumbi sub-counties as they made stop-overs to rally supporters to turn out in big numbers and elect Kisembo to replace district chairman-elect Peter Banura who died in a car accident in April before swearing in.
"I am here on instructions of the NRM Chairman and President Yoweri Museveni to coordinate final mobilisation drives throughout the district as we remind people to vote NRM in big numbers," PM Nabbanja said.
The President's message to the people of Kikuube is clear, "elect an NRM candidate that is ready to ensure there is better service delivery like good roads, clean and safe water, education and improvement of household incomes through monitoring government interventions like Emyooga and the Parish Development Model."
NRM candidate Kisembo appealed to voters to maintain the discipline exhibited in campaigns.
"I request the voters to show up, vote in peace, be vigilant and maintain discipline throughout the entire process," Kisembo said.
He reiterated commitment to keep working together as Kikuube leaders and government to advance prosperity, sustainability and human well-being.
Dr Seninde said the coming of the Prime Minister and other ministers “reinforces our campaign team. They have rallied locals and also held meetings to prepare for vote protection of our candidate.”
She called upon the people of Kikuube to turn up in big numbers at the polling stations on Thursday, “to choose the best candidate who is ready to effect better service delivery.”
She stated that they are not only looking at a mere win but also to pull off a very big margin against the opposition candidate.
“Unlike in most by-elections that fetched very low voter turn up, we are working to ensure the Kikuube by-election attracts a very huge turn voter up,” Seninde said as she discouraged the people of Kikuube against supporting the opposition out of internal disgruntlement.
Prime Minister Nabbanja and the NRM secretariat leaders were also joined by Local Government Minister, Hon. Balaam Barugahara and State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, Hon. Mary Grace Mugasa.
