Learn from your elders, Todwong to the youth

The NRM Secretary General Rt Hon Richard Todwong has called on the youth to take time and seek guidance from their elders before venturing into the unknown.

“Don’t be misguided, learn to respect your elders because they can see certain things from a different angle than you may not happen to notice or see. With their knowledge, you will have the ability to refocus in life.” the Secretary-General said.

Todwong made the remarks this morning while addressing youth moments after completing the inaugural West Nile Youth Forum Marathon in Arua City where he officiated at the function as Chief Guest and represented the President, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

He cautioned leaders against neglecting the very people who voted them into office, this he said, will bring about their failure.

“Leaders get down to the people and help them to lead consult them support them to advise them at all times,” he said.

The Secretary-General thanked the organizers of the fundraiser Marathon for the initiative of empowering and reshaping the minds of the young people. To this end, he contributed Sh 5Million and urged them to utilize the funds collected today respectively.

He applauded the Indian community for providing gainful employment opportunities to the youth in the region.

“Under the pillar of patriotism in the NRM, anybody who helps us expand our GDP. Who helps us to employ our people, who helps to provide the much-needed resources, we call him a brother,” Todwong added.

On his part, the State Minister for Physical Planning and Urban Development Hon Mario Obiga Kania noted that mindset change is an important aspect of the society that can drive the needed social-economic transformation.

“Mindset change starts with us the people, this is the aspect we use to train the young people to empower themselves to understand what the community expects from them,” Hon Kania said.

He added that hard work is an ingredient of mindset change and that the youth should set targets for themselves and follow them always.
