The President also took time off his busy campaign schedule to commission the Kashenyi-Mitooma(11.52km) and Katabi seminary access road(0.8km) as well as the Ntungamo-Mirama Hills road.

The NRM presidential candidate climaxed his engagements in Ankole sub-region with a meeting of party and youth leaders from Ntungamo and Rwampara districts at Kyamate Secondary school in Ntungamo Municipality

Speaking at the President’s last meeting in Ankole sub-region, the First Lady, Janet Museveni applauded President Museveni for bringing about a fundamental change to the country.

“Ntungamo is a very peaceful place and we thank God for protecting us during this COVID-19 time. We are proud of you Mr President. All the people of Ntungamo are proud of this people party government serving people. We thank you for the Ntungamo- Mirama hill road that our people needed badly,”Mrs. Museveni said.

“Thank you for the youth livelihood program funds and women funds that have benefitted many youths and women respectively.  The achievements in the health and education sectors are many in our area. Thank you for leading a pro-people government.”

The First Lady, whose ancestral home is in Ntungamo, rallied the NRM leaders to canvass votes for President Museveni in the forthcoming election so that he can be re-elected and continues with the development journey for the area.

Speaking at the same meeting, President  Museveni emphasized wealth and job creation for every homestead.

“The jobs can be got in agriculture if you get involved in commercial agriculture like me and mama who employ 100 people at my farm in Kisozi. The second sector is factories which provide a number of jobs but also the services sector like hotels, transport, banking, tourism and even professional services like lawyers and doctors.  The fourth sector is ICT and the last one is public service but this one has a limit on how many people it can employ,”Museveni told the party leaders.

The President reminded the leaders that the NRM party was able to deal with Uganda’s social, political and economic problems by emphasizing people’s problems, other than their divisions, adding that this has seen the country achieve a lot in the past 34 years.

“The rich foreigners have helped us on the issue of taxes and now we can do everything we want. The remaining thing is budgeting well the money but the only problem is corruption of leaders who eat money meant for you people,” he said.

Speaking to youth leaders who gathered at Kyamate Primary School, Museveni urged them to shun ideologically bankrupt groups of people who are preaching violence.

He noted that the other groups are only involved in reactionary violence meant to discredit the achievements of the NRM in the last 34 years but noted they have nothing they are fighting for.

In response to the President’s message the youth leaders pledged to move door to door canvassing support for the NRM party to ensure the gains achieved are consolidated.
