Speaking during the reconciliation meeting for Makindye Division, at Leisure Gardens in Bunga Kampala, the NRM National Treasure Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko called upon all party Flag bearers to unite and support each other during the forthcoming General elections that are scheduled for January 2021.
“If someone you contested against in the party primaries has decided to stand down in favour of you, what excuse do you have for not supporting a fellow flagbearer. Let us support each other as flagbearers for the good of the party.” Namayanja advised.
Hon. Namayanja expressed her sincere gratitude to the contestants who lost during the primaries but decided to step down in favour of the party flagbearers. She appealed to the independent candidates that contested in our primaries to come and forge ways of supporting our flagbearers.
She also called upon all party leaders at the different levels to activate the 30 member committees at all villages to work together and strengthen our party. She furthermore called on candidates and party members to canvas for support for all party flagbearers ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“I want to appeal to all party committee members at all levels to support our flagbearer, lets put aside our differences and build our party. Vote for all flagbearers at all levels. Party spirit demands that we work as a unified team, we either win or fail as a team,” she added.
Namayanja explained that the reconciliation meetings were put in place to help bring together members of the party who could have been aggrieved by the just concluded party primaries. She noted that the process would put the party in a much favourable position of triumphing the elections at all level.
“In the past, primaries would be held and immediately head to the general elections without sorting the differences caused, but this time round, time was purposely apportioned to carter for petitions and reconciliation of the contestants,” Namayanja explained.
On request of the Party Division Chairperson Hussein Lukyamuzi, the National Treasurer promised to hold a meeting with the independent candidates by Thursday this week to forge a way forward for the party.
